Carlos Condit Wrestles at Dana White’s Alma Mater, Bishop Gorman and Combatlifestyle was invited to this exclusive training session on the Fourth of July. While everyone in the US was getting ready for pool parties, BBQ, and fireworks, Carlos was honing his wrestling skills under the watchful eye of Jake Herbert, 2012 Olympian, 2-time NCAA champion, 3-time Big Ten Conference champion, and 4-time NCAA All-American. This training session included UFC Light Heavyweight, Phil Davis who was getting ready for his fight against Lyoto Machida at the time, Ricky Lundell, Gracie Jiu Jitsu 2nd degree black belt under Pedro Sauer & Bishop Gorman Wrestling Coach, Jared Platt, decorated wrestler/grappler, Todd Prace, veteran freestyle national champ, and Ricky’s son as well.

Dana White went to this high school where he met Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta. He got kicked out for accidentally almost hitting a nun with his shoe, which had flown off his foot when he kicked the classroom door open. For the Fertitta’s, Bishop Gorman is a family legacy seeing 3 generations of the family in attendance. Bishop Gorman was one of their father, Frank Fertitta Jr’s favorite beneficiaries.

The training session began with wrestling drills up and down the wrestling room followed by the guys pairing off to run more drills. Carlos was an avid learner, soaking in all that he could in his training session that day in Las Vegas. This was one of a few practices they did at BG during UFC 162 Fight week. As we go into tomorrow’s fight against Martin Kampmann, we will see if he applies all that he has learned against an opponent who won their previous meeting in the cage mostly through wrestling and take downs.
