Back to Phuket- Day 7: Wow.. so many cool experiences in Thailand, this is another one to add to the books.. After shooting Ocean Bloom’s Buddha Run in the morning, I took off with my friend Jonas Axelsson to monkey hill which was smack dab in the middle of Phuket Town according to the research I had done. It was the coolest activity I could find that was nearby to do on one of my last days in Thailand.
When we got to Monkey Hill, we weren’t allowed to ride the scooter all the way up so were stuck walking which Jonas was concerned about because it was quite a distance. Well, luck was in our favor. The monkeys hadn’t eaten all weekend because of Songkran with no visitors to come see them. We had stopped at a store to grab a bunch of bananas on the way and I was happy we did. Within moments we were surrounded by about 20 monkeys as well as dogs and a wart hog. It was like an alternative zoo! I was a little worried about getting attacked for the food I had although since there was two of us I think it was ok. One of the monkeys went as far as to touch my leg, smell his hand, touch my leg and smell it again, and then tried to take a bite out of it!!! I screamed and scared it off although it spent the rest of my time there stalking me. Some of the monkeys were even carrying babies which was a treat to see so up close! After we were done there, we took a ride around the island before heading back home to Tiger Muay Thai.
